There is nothing like going from room to room opening up windows at the first signs of spring to start that renewed feeling of spring. Use Lysol products in the kitchen and bathroom to clean, disinfect and leave the rooms smelling like a fresh spring day! I like to spray down everything that needs a deep clean and let it sit while I tend to other chores and come back to wipe them up, this lets me get away with no scrubbing and makes quick work of cleanup.

I love to dig out my festive spring flower pattern dish sets and kitchenware! I use Finish products for the dishwasher to get them sparkling clean! While the dishwashing cycle is running I deep clean the kitchen with Lysol products.

Next I head to the laundry room where Woolite comes in handy when washing those fall and winter darks to be packed away and make room for spring fashions! While the laundry is washing and drying I clean and organize the laundry room, packing away any signs of fall and winter to make room for the spring season.

Last but not least, Air Wick plays a key role rejuvenating each room with fresh fragrance using Air Wick Fresh Waters Scented Oils and Air Wick PURE Freshmatic Tropical Flowers refills.

 Spring Cleaning Tips

Carryall Apron

Before you throw out that old kitchen apron, stash your essential spring-cleaning supplies in the pockets and use it as you go from room to room. It will leave your hands free to scrub and polish and you won't have to lug a heavy cleaning bucket around the house.
To create storage compartments, turn up the bottom 12 to 18 inches of a long apron. Determine pocket widths by using the size of your cleaning supplies as guides. Stitch vertically using a sewing machine

Preventing Mildew

When it comes to mildew, prevention gives you the upper hand. So be sure to keep surfaces clean, improve air circulation, and reduce dampness (for example, don't bunch wet towels). In poorly ventilated basements, install open shelving, use a dehumidifier and fan, and store items in airtight plastic containers with desiccants (such as silica gel). In musty closets, leave an incandescent lightbulb on to dry the air, or hang packets of desiccants.

Cleaning Lampshades

Here's a bright idea: Keep your fabric lampshades dust-free with an adhesive lint roller. Hold the shade steady, and pass the roller over the exterior.

Clean Windows

Dirty panes are no problem when you use rubber-edged squeegees, which are quicker and more effective than cloth or newspaper. They come in a variety of sizes -- and a screw-on extension will let you reach high spots.

Dust Lightbulbs

Unscrew lightbulbs and polish the bulbs with a microfiber cloth dampened with water (avoid wetting the metal screw base). Clean the bulbs in recessed ceiling fixtures with a telescoping lamb's wool duster.

Switch It Up

Change the direction of your ceiling fans. While the standard counterclockwise direction provides a pleasant breeze during warm months, you should run the fan clockwise in cold weather. This creates an upward draft, redistributing the warm air hovering near the ceiling throughout the room, thus heating your home more efficiently. Most fans have a switch on the base to adjust the rotation.

Replace Batteries

You should replace the batteries in your smoke detectors every six months. Use the day you set your clocks back as a reminder, and you'll be unlikely to forget. Change the batteries again in spring, when you set your clocks ahead.

  1. These are great spring cleaning tips! I always forget about my smoke detectors until they start beeping at me. These are also some great deals. I love the Cartwheel app!
