ABOUT OUR COLLECTION
Babysoy's baby layette line is designed by designer/mom, and approved by her daughter, who refers to babysoy as her "comfy clothes".
Using simple and fresh designs, babysoy has created a sustainable and modern baby wardrobe for eco-babies without sacrificing comfort or style.
We started
off making our products with nature's own ingredient - soybean protein fiber (Azlon) and have added other eco-friendly fibers such as
organic cotton and rayon from bamboo. Babysoy is about recyle, reduce, reuse and sustainable.
Azlon from Soybean: What we commonly refer to as "Soybean protein fiber". It is a sustainable and botanical textile fiber made from renewable and
biodegradable natural
resources - the leftover soybean pulp from tofu and soymilk production.
It is a green textile fiber that possesses the superiorities
of many natural and synthesized fibers.
From Soy to Fiber: 1. Proteins are extracted from the leftover materials of tofu or soymilk production.
2. Protein liquids are forced through a device
resembling a showerhead, called a spinneret, to make liquid soy
(called wet-spinning).
3. Liquid soy is solidified to make soybean protein fiber.
After protein is extracted
from the leftover soybean pulp, it can be used as fertilizer.
Benefits of Soy: Soybean fiber is a soft, light, and smooth protein fiber. It is smoother than cashmere and has the same moisture absorption as cotton but
with a better moisture transmission, making it more comfortable on the skin. It is hydroscopic, air pervious, soft, smooth, dry and has superior warmth
retention that’s comparable to wool.
Non-GMO Beans: All soybeans used are non-GMO (genetically modified organism) beans. Non-GMO soybeans cannot be treated or exposed to chemical
pesticides during storage.
Type of Cotton: Babysoy uses long-staple cotton also known as Sea-Island cotton which helps to build a longer lasting fabric structure.
Helping Our Environment: Babysoy’s baby and tots line are sustainable and eco-friendly. This is because azlon from soybean is a textile that is made from
recycled material and it does not add any extra burden to mother nature.
Snaps + Zippers: All snaps and zippers are made by world-renowned YKK and are nickel-free, making dressing-time safe and easy.
Fire Retardant: Our products are NOT treated with any fire retardant chemicals, please make sure they are snug fitting on your babies.
Fairly Made: Babysoy puts endless efforts in offering parents an eco-friendly and affordable layettes line made by artisans who are
fairly-treated in a safe working environment. Co-founders personally conducts unannounced factory inspection at least 4 times a year.

babysoy STORY
Babysoy was founded on the hope of providing an affordable baby
layette line of the highest quality. Each piece is designed with an
appreciation and care for our mother nature in mind. Founder of Babysoy
came across soy from azlon (protein fiber extracted from soybean) and
began his journey. Babysoy's mission is to continue to bring quality
green baby clothes at an affordable price to eco-conscious parents. With
soy as an introduction, we continued to include different types of
sustainable fabrics that will help lessen burden on planet earth. We are especially thrilled about our effort in helping educate caring parents to learn about the alternatives to organic cotton and discover the world of sustainable textiles. Our journey to “reduce, reuse, recycle” marks the beginning of making our planet a better place to live for the next generation!
A Personal Note From David:
I think everyone, especially in the past 2-3 years have seen dramatic climate changes, realizes that we need to take care of the environment. If everyone can move forward a step to re-use, reduce, and recycle, the joined effort can have a huge impact.
But a lot of times, there's a
premium to the eco-world, and sometimes this premium can drive away a
lot of people who wanted to be part of the effort.I came across the PLA cups and bags about 12 years ago, these bio-degradable products were great and would decompose in about 3 months when you bury them. I thought it was an excellent product and wanted to introduce it to Asia market, but the cost of the material and requirement of new machinery drove everyone showing interest away. From that experience, I knew well that a lot of people are willing to switch to eco-products, but the premium that they can accept is not sky high.
The way for us to cut down our price is to eliminate middle man, so most of the components on our product, we buy directly from manufacture to lower cost, making sure quality is up to par, and we make sure we know the manufacturers by paying frequent visits and not rely on communicating through faxes and emails alone.
Having a new baby boy, I was happy to get this whale sleeper from babysoyUSA. I like that the material is very soft and comfortable for baby and it is easy to take on and off quickly. The whale design is very cute. I like that it is long sleeved for the cooler winter months and keeps baby nice and warm & comfy cozy. I love that this company cares about the environment and is doing something about it. This baby sleeper is made very well and of quality material and workmanship. I think it would make a nice baby shower gift for new parents. I also think it would make a thoughtful holiday gift. I recommend it.
