Congratulations, You're Pregnant!

The Facts About Being Pregnant and Healthy For First Time Mothers

by Angie Walker y Fenyw (Author)

Congratulations, you’re pregnant! If this is your first pregnancy, you will be full of questions and your first stop should be your doctor or midwife, they are the professionals and will give you the most up to date information. This little book is no substitute for your health professionals and is intended as a guide about the facts of pregnancy and your nutritional needs.

Eating a healthy, varied diet in pregnancy will help you to get most of the vitamins and minerals you need. There are some vitamins and minerals that are especially important. It's best to get vitamins and minerals from the food you eat, but when you are pregnant you will need to take some supplements as well, to make sure you get everything you need. It's recommended that you take:

* Vitamin D each day throughout your pregnancy - you should also carry on taking this after your baby is born if you breastfeed

* Folic acid each day – This supplement is a very important element in helping to ensure you have a healthy baby and you should take this from the moment you are trying to conceive.

This little book will give you all the information you need to make healthy choices for you and your baby.

I like that this book concentrates on health and nutrition for the expectant mother. I think this gets looked past during pregnancy, besides taking prenatal vitamins and stopping smoking and drinking alcohol.  I like that this book reminds us that the mothers health is important before, during and after giving birth and that babies health is a direct link from the mothers healthy choices.  I like that the book talks about the special vitamins and minerals that are important to have in your daily diet as well as taking them in supplement forms.  I think this is a good book for new mothers, because new mothers always have so many questions and concerns about what they should do and not do, take and not take and this book is a nice guide for that.  I recommend it.
