Release Features All 12 Episodes from the Fifth Season of
Shameless
Plus Bonus Features
BURBANK, CA (October 5, 2015) – The irresistibly irreverent
and delightfully outrageous Gallagher clan is back. The fifth season of Shameless,
Showtime’s top-rated comedy series, is set for release on both DVD and
Blu-ray™ from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment (WBHE) December 29, 2015.
Titled
Shameless: The Complete Fifth Season, this must-own
release will feature all 12 episodes plus bonus content, including two
featurettes and deleted scenes. From Emmy®-winning executive producer
John Wells (ER,
The West Wing) and Warner Bros. Television, Shameless stars Oscar®-nominated/Emmy®-winning actor William H. Macy (Fargo,
Door to Door) and Emmy Rossum (Mystic River, Beautiful Creatures)
in a fiercely engaging and fearlessly twisted comedy about an
irreverent, unconventional, working-class Chicago South Side family
trying to scrape by. Macy stars as Frank
Gallagher, the genial alcoholic father of six close-knit, street-smart
and rambunctious kids who will do whatever it takes to survive and stay
together.
Shameless: The Complete Fifth Season will retail for
$39.98 SRP for the standard DVD edition and $44.96 for the Blu-ray™. The
Blu-ray™ includes both the Blu-ray™ and an UltraViolet™ digital copy.
In season five of
Shameless, the Gallaghers are feeling the heat! In the
swelter of another Chicago summer, Fiona (Rossum) juggles a crush on her
new boss (Dermot Mulroney) with a new husband (Steve Kazee) and the
return of her old boyfriend (Justin Chatwin)! Frank
(Macy) balances his brand new liver against that old healthy appetite
for liquor, drugs and trouble. Lip (Jeremy Allen White) heads home from
college and struggles to hang with his old South Side friends. Debbie
(Emma Kenney) has her first real boyfriend,
Ian’s (Cameron Monaghan) dealing with real health issues, and Carl’s
(Ethan Cutkosky) just dealing. Personal and urban renewal runs rampant
as organic coffee shops and yoga studios invade the hood, and the
Gallaghers stumble toward finding out who they really
are and who to truly love. Don’t miss another moment with the lovable,
irreverent Gallagher gang. A stellar cast shines in all 12 seriously
hilarious and heartbreaking season five episodes.
“The fifth season of
Shameless continues to deliver fresh, captivating
storylines, powerful acting performances and outstanding production;
it’s no surprise the series has built such a loyal and devoted fan
following,” said Rosemary Markson, WBHE Senior Vice President,
TV Marketing. She added, “The Gallagher clan may be as unconventional
as a family can ever be, but that’s what makes the show such a delight
to watch. We’re excited to release another engaging season of this
remarkable series with some terrific behind-the-scenes
bonus content.”
Based on the long-running, award-winning British series,
Shameless was adapted for American television by John Wells and original UK series creator Paul Abbott (State of Play) and made its U.S. debut on Showtime January 9, 2011. Showtime’s youngest-skewing series,
Shameless developed a loyal fan base during the first
season, and recently averaged 5.7 million viewers weekly across
platforms during its fifth season**.
Shameless is executive produced by John Wells, Andrew Stearn, Christopher Chulack, Nancy M. Pimental and Davey Holmes. The series is produced by Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with John
Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Season five of Shameless stars Macy, Rossum, Jeremy Allen White (Afterschool), Ethan Cutkosky (Fred Claus), Shanola Hampton (You Again), Steve Howey (Reba), Emma Kenney
(The New Girl in Town), Cameron Monaghan (The Giver, Vampire Academy), Noel Fisher (Hatfields & McCoys), Emily Bergl (Southland) and special guest star Joan Cusack (Working Girl, In & Out). Season six returns on Sunday, January
